INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF TEATHER,ART AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

“LE MERAVIGLIE DEL POSSIBILE”  7° EDITION

1) New technologies for theater stages – Workshop:

“VISUAL STAGE – TOUCHDESIGNER”

FRIDAY 27th NOVEMBER AND SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBRE h 17 – 20

“Visual Stage Workshop” is targeted to musicians, VJ, show technicians, digital and multimedia artists and who wants to explore all the opportunities offered by technology to improve performances.
Generative graphics and image/video processing in real time are very powerful tools and they can offer new ways to express a new language to merge with traditional arts.
We use the multimedia software called TouchDesigner (available both for Windows and iOS) that allows to work through a user- friendly interface, even without be programmers.
TouchDesigner is one of the most flexible software in the multimedia field and it can work with different kind of screens, projectors, lasers, servos, lights, MIDI controllers and instruments, movement sensors and so on.

It is addressed to:
Musicians, DJ, VJ, show technicians, multimedia artists

Requested skills:
Basic computer knowledge, you don’t need to be a programmer.

What it is about:

We will make an overview on the visual arts, on the state of the art and on the methodologies and creative possibilities in the world of interactive installations and ì videomapping, in particular on show and performance field.We will learn the basic principles of the software and the fundamental operations to use it.Together we will build an example of an animated graphic projection responsive to music and animated on the movements of an actor’s body.We will  integrate our work with the one developed in the Augmented Stage course.


2) New technologies for theater stages – Workshop:

“AUGMENTED STAGE”

FRIDAY 4th DECEMBER and SATURDAY 5TH of DECEMBER h 17 – 20

“Augmented Stage Workshop” is targeted to technicians working in show/performance/live events and theatre fields, multimedia and digital artists, VJ, musicians, DJ, informatics students, and who wants to explore all the opportunities offered by technology to improve performances.

Requested skills:
Basic computer and technical knowledge, you don’t need to be a programmer.

Programme .
After an overview of the various software that can be used in the performative field (vdmx5, Resolume, delicode nimate, Millumin, Madmapper, Unity 3d, Quartz composer) we will review the latest generation hardwares that can be used in the performative world (kinect 1 and 2 , leap motion).
Also we will see:
some communication protocols and methods such as OSC, NDI, Siphon;
how you can get an interactive virtual set design by videomapping and a game engine ;
to manage video contributions in real time by midi tools or control software;
to use generative videos.
to make audio reactive contributions.
to use the Kinect to create a mask in real time.

3) “AUGMENTED VISUAL STAGE” – WORKSHOP FOR WHO CAN DO BOTH WORKSHOPS 

SUNDAY 6th DICEMBRE h 16- 20

Final lesson of 4 hours of integration and implementation of both programs.

During the final workshop, the elements developed during the two courses will be exploited to create an integrated interactive system directly on stage.

4) We are happy to confirm also the extraordinary participation of Miso Music Portugal company, during the final day of the workshop of new technologies AUGMENTED VISUAL STAGE on SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER! They will show us how they use new technologies in the multimedia opera“Salt Itinerary”, winning performance of the international Open Call for artists of LMDP7 Festival 2020. Salt Itinerary, by Miguel Azguime, is an example of the intermedia hybridity made possible by current digital technology.

WHO ARE MISO MUSIC COMPANY.
The Founders of Miso Music Portugal are Paula and Miguel Azguime, composers, performers and multimedia artists who, since the foundation of the Miso Ensemble (a flute and percussion duo with electronics, with a unique career on the Portuguese music panorama), have been developing a tireless work in the field of new music, contributing in an active way for the expansion and promotion of contemporary art. Since its foundation the Miso Ensemble has been recognized by the public and critics alike as one of the most innovative Portuguese contemporary music groups.
In addition to Paula and Miguel Azguime’s artistic activity, they have been intensely dedicated to the promotion of Portuguese composers and contemporary music both at the national and international level. In this context, years long, they have been developing numerous and pioneering activities, which gave origin to Miso Music Portugal. These activities include the creation of the independent label Miso Records, the realization of the Música Viva Festival, the creation of the Miso Studio, a studio for the development of music with live electronics, as well as the foundation of the Portuguese Music Research & Information Centre. Paula Azguime is Miso Music Portugal’s executive director and Miguel Azguime his artistic director.
