THE SHOW.
The image of a new crusade, neither ideological nor confessional, which sows hatred and which waves the banner of intolerance, is the suggestion from which the writing and staging of “THE CRUSADE OF WITHOUT FAITH” – “In praise of intolerance”.
To move the steps of this “march” of idiosyncrasy are a man and a woman, two wandering proselytes, radicalized intolerant. They are a sort of remake of the original human couple, of Adam and Eve in a western style, abjuring, flogging and cynical.
The target of their personal crusade is the contemporary Western world, which the scythe of absolute annoyance strikes across. In the name of intolerance, they spare nothing or anyone. In the expulsion from paradise, a symbolic representation of a lost ideal of life, perhaps the origin of so much hatred.
The stage texts, written by Andrea Meloni, include monologues, dialogues and songs related to universal and topical themes.
The companies Teatro Laboratorio Alkestis CRS and the art company CIRCO CALUMET with the latter production conclude the study and experimentation path started in 2015 and inspired by the German Kabarett of the Weimar Republic, characterized by a caustic and committed satire, which artistically denounced the political and social situation of Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. Therefore not a cabaret of entertainment and distraction, like the French one of the same period, but an attentive and reflective “little comic muse”, to which authors such as Bertolt Brecht, Karl Kraus and Kurt Tucholsky are interested and dedicated.
